The law states that you can not legally shoot someone that is running away, unarmed, and no longer posing an immediate threat so how is it ok? EVEN IF THE KID DID PUSH THE OFFICER AND REACH FOR HIS GUN once he started running away the use of deadly force should not have been an option....PERIOD! If someone breaks into your home and assualts you but they start to run away you can not LEGALLY chase them down and shoot them out in the yard after they started running away unless there was clear and imminent danger to others at that moment. This officer shot someone no longer posing an imminent threat as they were running away...not during the SUPPOSED struggle over the weapon which would have clearly been fine. Black, white, boy, or girl, our youth should not be gunned down by TRAINED officers. I have many police persons that are friends. The vast majority of ploice are good PEOPLE and officers and I am definitely thankful for those that help to keep us safe and risk their lives dealing with criminals and wackos. Make no mistake, my comments are in no way against the entity of law enforcement! Every profession has those in some small amount that shame their profession. The only problem is in this particular instance is when there is a major mistake made by a poorly trained person or a clear choice made out of hatred or prejudice (thats is to simply prejudge someone on any grounds, not racist by its definition alone) someone ends up dead..... DEAD! Ive been yanked out of the bleachers at a football game here in El Dorado by several officers in a very incorrect, aggressive, and vulgar manner as I was just sitting at talking at half time bc they thought i MIGHT be someone else they were looking for. On a seperate occasion I was pulled over with four officers guns drawn here in Eldorado bc they thought i was someone else once again! Thank god a car didnt backfire or something. To often we (young black males) are viewed as threats bf we are viewed as people or citizens. The blacks killing blacks/ kids killing kids is another issue (sad and pathetic no doubt). Its the professional, trained, sworn to protect and serve failures that adds the last straws of frustration and mistrust to issues like these. We can do better America!
