Carolinas HealthCare System’s CEO Michael Tarwater explains how hospitals have become a high profile target of state government: *deep cuts in government reimbursement for Medicare and Medicaid patients have created fiscal crises for hospitals. *failure to expand Medicaid has hurt hospitals and denied care for hundreds of thousands of NCians. *one hospital in Belhaven has closed and others across the state are shedding thousands of jobs and closing units. State government is degrading our health care system. Its time to push back.
