The level of denial of the BC government seems to know no bounds. - TopicsExpress

The level of denial of the BC government seems to know no bounds. Now TWO people who were part of the governments negotiation team in 2012 have publicly stated that they did, in fact, deliberately follow a strategy of stonewalling and unreasonable demands which was intended to compel teachers to strike out of frustration, thus turning public opinion negatively against teachers and giving the government the excuse to use the hammer of legislation to force terms of employment - and remove contract language that protected teacher working conditions. Yet the Education Minister (I can barely call him that without spitting bile) and the Premier (the former Education Minister... more bile please) keep denying any such strategy, denying that that they engaged in unfair labour practices, and saying that the basis of their appeal lies in claiming Mme. Justice Griffin erred in ruling that the government violated principles of free collecting bargaining. I can see that at least they remain consistent in their failure to understand legal principles, since Justice Griffins ruling seems mainly predicated on a finding of fact... AND APPEALS ARE GENERALLY ONLY ARGUABLE ON MATTERS OF LAW, NOT FACT. Funny how a lowly law teacher seems to understand that and they dont. But I also think I understand bullying and autocracy when I see it, and they dont... I am beginning to think we should ask Wisconsin to take on sister status since their Governor and our Government seem to share so much in common when it comes to caring about public education... Excuse the rant, but I am worn out by the constant stream of all these lies... and saddened by the fact that those in power obviously believe that the public still believe the lies. And more saddened that they might be right. Damn you, Orwell, why you gotta be so prescient.
