The life of a Christian pastor is outlined with people who believe their problems take precedence over everything even his own households. If he does not wait on every beckoned call, he is demonized and abandoned. He is looked at as a crook if he buys an F150. People think he sits around all day doing nothing until its time to preach on Sunday. They do not see the countless hours of study, counseling, 3:00 in the morning calls, laboring for souls, hospital visits, speaking engagements, managing the congregations affairs, funerals, weddings, preparing curriculum, discipling, all while trying to manage his own household. He makes a decision that may be controversial (but not unbiblical) and other pastors and fellow believers disconnect themselves from him. He disciplines a congregant and they just go down the street to another fellowship and give the residing pastor a bull crap story. And, that pastor assures him or her that he is loving and not judgemental and legalistic like that church. No one prays for him because they believe his title as pastor should make him self sustaining. His kids and wife miss him in the midst of fulfilling his call, and he misses them equally. No one knows that he feels inadequate 85% of the time. No one knows that he questions his leadership 95% of the time. Very few people know that he is being attacked by the enemy 100% of the time. No one knows sleep doesnt come easy. No one sees that he gets blamed for someones life falling apart even if they do things against his counsel. He often feels lonely and mistreated. He cries out to His God. And, His God responds, My grace is sufficient. He asks His Savior if he could quit, His Savior responds, No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for My kingdom. He tells the Spirit, You cannot communicate my pain, The Spirit responds, I intercede with groanings too deep for words. The pastor gets off his knees and wills himself to go through it all again. And he says, For you Father, it is all worth it.
