The life of a Lone Wolf Advocate - - - - People say most of my work in Honduras is a tall tale... Not true... A lot of what I write about is not to hear myself talk... It is to share the truth... I do not censor anything... Most people have never seen the truth of what really goes on behind closed doors of a NGO... I have no shame in saying I was dropped to one knee... I have no shame in writing about my Malaria - PTSD experiences... Or writing about the countless attempts by Honduran Gatekeepers to stop our work... Yes... After a while one can question me... Tomas - it was you who was your worst enemy... It indeed seems that way... That is part of what the Gatekeepers want you to believe... The perception of failure is what makes those who could help Lone Wolfs like me - not help... They say in their meetings - see - Tomas is having issues... Again - that is what the Gatekeepers want you to believe - and you bought it... Here is the truth... NGOs do not help Lone Wolfs like me... Because they know we are right... They hide the truth of the realities of a country like Honduras... They do not want their Agenda compromised... Or better yet... Their funders will see the success of our ideas - and their funding could be compromised... Very few people work at the grassroots level where I was... We are Lone Wolf Advocates... Most NGOs cling to conservative funders... Those funders say - do not make waves... Their problems are censored so the public - funders - only see lily white reports... When guys like me write of our experiences... The lily white NGOs say... We do not have the same problems as Tomas... The lily white NGOs work on a different planet... It us who are really pushing projects that will impact the Honduran people... Of course our work has to be defamed... Here I will prove my point... GIZ... Who was DED... Is a powerful German NGO in Honduras... Together - DED - GTZ - Me - In January 2010 - agreed to do a project for a Womans group I organized in my village... Other NGOs were brought in... I will get to the point quickly... Agreements were not kept - this is typical in Honduras... Usually the funding that was acquired for said project - once received - said project is put aside... I began to ask DED - IDE - why benchmarks were not being met... I was ignored... The excuses began to pile up... I told IDE to leave our farm... Of course - Tomas was to blame... I kept up my pressure - publishing all experiences of how DED and their cohorts abandoned our Village... I never backed off... DED can say... It was IDE International was supposed to do the Irrigation Project... That is the smoke and mirrors act... DED knew I was not happy... For fifteen months I told DED and IDE CEO our village had been abandoned... All communications were published on my website... Finally... In August 2011... DED... Now GIZ... Called me... Katia Hartel was in charge of finding out why our project was abandoned... Katia met with me... My Family is witness to this meeting... Katia told me a investigation was going to be made as to what happened... The PPP Riego Sosa Report was done... Here are two of statements made in the report... · A total failure of the Family Vegetable Garden Project · The performance of the Technician was very bad in this project The report does NOT place blame on me... Nor my Womans group... After all the disinformation regarding my Honduran work... The attacks on my character... The truth - about my work was told... I know GIZ did not want to meet with me... A director in GIZ called me around this time... This same director had ignored me when I saw him in public several times... The director asked me if I was satisfied with GIZ returning to our village... I could tell he hated making the call... But I respected what GIZ was doing... I said... GIZ needs to make it right with the Women - not with me... And I said shame on them for taking fifteen months to return... I said thank you director - we hung up... December 7.2011... GIZ and IDE held a meeting with my Womans group... IDE sent new Directors - Associates... GIZ and IDE apologized to the Women... They said they were committed to finishing the Drip Irrigation Project... The Women asked me what I thought should be done... I said - accept the apology... My Daughter Angelica and Son Diego were present... I thanked Katia Hartel for Her courage in coming back to our Village... If Tomas is what so many say... Then why did the most powerful NGO in Honduras - GIZ And IDE... Return to our village... I rest my case... ~
