The little guy is all settled in and has already loosened up around us. When we take the dogs from MCDP, we have trusted the judgment of the folks at Friends of Fido to pick the dog that would best fit in our home and the dog pack we currently have. I do believe they were right again! I have a feeling this little guy is going to be fun! His tail wags as soon as he sees us and he took off up the steps excited wanting to play with the dogs upstairs. He will have the entire downstairs to himself until he and we are comfortable introducing the dogs sometime within the next few weeks. He is licking his incision so we went to Petsmart to get him an e-collar. When we came back the smell of urine and the shelter smacked us right between the eyes! The house smelled horrendous! We went downstairs and there were no accidents. He just smelled! We gave him a sponge bath being sure not to get his incision wet and it is much better. Still not great, but better. The poor boy is badly urine stained. His entire belly, feet, and tail are yellowish brown. He has a wound on his leg that we thought was caked in poo, but when cleaned up it is more like a sore. I cant imagine what poor Angie, the transporters, car smells like!! We love you Angie :-) Anyways, he is as clean as can be for now, he has eaten two small bowls of food and one of oatmeal. (Dont want to overwhelm his system.) He doesnt mind the crate at all and is happily chewing his first night marrow bone on his comfy pillow. We are looking forward to getting this boy happy and healthy. Oh, and we still need a name. It has to be something related to his gorgeous eyes.
