The lone-wolf, as theyre calling him, that brought panic to Canadas capital city acted entirely alone and, therefore, would be entirely off the radar of CSIS, CSEC, and other spy agencies, the military, and even the police... so any new sweeping laws would do nothing to predict, find or stop another Michael Zehaf-Bibeau but it would certainly copy the dystopian path the United States has trodden. Undeterred, Canadas answer to George Bush, Conservative PM Stephen Harper, is forging ahead with a new package of Patriot Act-like laws that, in some ways, put Canada ahead of the U.S. in being able to detain, try and interrogate suspects without judicial review or even tell the detainee what charges he might be suspected of.
