The long-awaited reveal for "The Road So Far" is here! The author is Joseph Fonseca, a gifted poet who will transport you down a road of realism and life; his perspective is mesmerizing. "The Road So Far" is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and all brick and mortar stores. Following is a poem from this chapbook. The Beaten Generation In the restless city, beneath the pale, commercial stars we rage against the expectations and explanations of our hundred years of history The tenement children and Dickensian dreams of our migrant family lost in the shuffle Now eternity opens up before us and threatens to expand ever outward if we refuse to check our growling ambition “Live for your art,” the homeless man of La Mancha chides us as we descend to trains and one more night of hopeless drinking with strangers Sleeping ain’t so bad, we hear, but we won’t know as long as there are still shadows to engulf us and promise to call in the morning We rekindle the Beat Generation and recite lines of verse like two men searching each other’s lips, wasted on the fumes of living, bemoaning our beaten generation: Those who believed in the dollar and lost their faith in the wake of one more fallen idol While on the other side of the world, Indian beatniks adhere to American mythology like adharma bums, reclaiming the wild cowboy west and teaching us, again, how to be us Before we were on t-shirts and lunchboxes and painted on murals in the East Side Before the digest versions of our novels fed high school libraries instead of bonfires Before the money Now the shimmering city is clean and romantic, but once it belonged to us
