The main event last weekend was held in Tipperary as the eagerly awaited Pierce Purcell Shield for 2014 got under way. Selectors Mike Kennedy and Eoin O’Keeffe had put together a fairly strong team that consisted of James Keane, Jack Kelly, Joe MacDonald, Ray Kelly, Tom Crosse, Paudie Ryan, Denis O’Brien, Liam Downey, Raymond Flynn and Kevin O’Hora . The first round on Saturday morning pitched us against a very strong Thurles Golf Club and the Ballykisteen got off to a slow start and were behind from early on and though they battled hard they could never recover and lost out to a very good Thurles team. Thanks to the full panel of players, Mick and Eoin for their commitment over the last few weeks. We also had a club singles with Daniel McInerney taking victory with 39 Pts. Second was the ever improving Doug Lam who was also has 39 Pts and was pipped on the back nine.
