The massive embezzlement of Waqf properties across the nation is something which is not a hidden secret. Most of the state Waqf Boards (both Shia and Sunni) have become hubs of corruption. The corrupt officials of the Waqf boards are given a free run without any check. In Bihar in a bid to enforce the popular campaign against the Waqf loot a big public protest led by the Friday Imam of Shia Jama Masjid #Muzaffarpur, Syed Mohammad Kazim, “shabib” is being organized in Patna on September 2, 2014 in front of the Waqf board as well as the Chief Minister’s residence. This 2- year long movement is something which has taken over the sleeps of the Waqf Board Chairman Mohsin Ali Masoomi, CEO Anwar Hussain and other corrupt officials and the politicians backing them. All these corrupt officials are hand in gloves with the corrupt motawallis (care takers) and land mafias across the state. After repeated appeal to the Waqf Board to take the corrupt caretaker of Nawab Mohammad Taqi Khan Waqf Board of Muzaffarpur into account Syed Mohammad Kazim with the support of the people of Muzaffarpur removed him and a new care taker was appointed in a public meeting last year. Just a few days back the care taker of the Shia graveyard was removed from the post and another care taker appointed by the people of Muzaffarpur. After repeated letters and request to the Waqf board (after the Waqf board chairman at a public meeting last year in Muzaffarpur promised in front of a thousand people that he will get the proper measurement of all the Waqf lands done within a month after which he vanished)the people of Muzaffarpur had no option but to replace the corrupt officials. The administration of the district knows well who is right and who is wrong and that’s the reason only that despite daily letters from Waqf board to the administration to arrest Maulana Kazim for allegedly interfering in the Waqf board’s functioning all the letters are put into the dustbins by the senior administrative officials. The public support for the movement is a testimony to the fact that despite repeated false propaganda by the Waqf Board , many politicians and the criminal land mafia this movement to take back the looted Waqf properties back from the usurpers has been a great success and a landmark achievement. It also must be remembered that the criminal land mafia at the behest of Waqf Board let no stone unturned in making this whole movement into a communal or sectarian one but they could not get success in their nefarious design.
