The mathematics behind the TRS as purported by certain groups - TopicsExpress

The mathematics behind the TRS as purported by certain groups makes the assumption that the electorate will not vote because they are upset that their smaller party did not win. An argument called the majority of the minority. However this is based on the ASSUMPTION that the electorate is immature and still votes along the lines of race and loyalty to party and will fail to recognize that casting a ballot for one party is a vote against the other parties. A choice is now presented to the third and fourth party voter to exercise his/her right to NOT have a particular party in power thus exercising the RIGHT TO VOTE AGAINST A PARTY. The legislation is meant to REFLECT THE MATURITY OF THE ELECTORATE. The electorate is a living, moving, developing body even more so than the constitution and its systems of representation must reflect that nature. People are not stupid. We understand that our rights are at a stage in development that accommodates our awareness of facts. The mass of citizens who vote have unprecedented access to information and thus voting for or against any party is an exercise in political awareness and maturity. A free lunch and a snowcone or a lil something might fool the minority of voters but REAL EMPOWERMENT comes from the facilitation of RIGHTS.
