The maximum recommended sugar consumption for males is 9tsp/day for males and 6tsp/day for females. There are obvious evils such as soft drinks cakes and ice creams however there are hidden sugars in most supermarket foods. If we took out every item in a supermarket that had sugar in it, there would be only 10% stock remaining (this includes food with natural sugars). Just a few examples of hidden sugars - raisin toast contains 4tsp per slice. One serve of low fat yoghurt contains 11 teaspoons of sugar, 400ml of apple juice contains 10 teaspoons. How easily the maximum can be reached by halfway through breakfast!
