The measure of a societies ethical and moral standards can be determined by witnessing what they value above all others, what they desire to possess or obtain and by what means they will use to try and satisfy these insatiable desires. In our supposedly advanced and civilized society, monetary wealth, material possessions and an elevated status have become the holy trinity of absolute esteem and self respect. We hold celebrities, entertainers and business tycoons at such a high regard, that they seemingly stop being mere mortals like you and me and transform into idols, replicates of the god of greed and gluttony. These delusions of grandeur that so many are inflicted with are causing extremely harmful and detrimental wounds on the soul of humanity. We covet gold as if it was the absolute essence of life, when in fact it is simply something that we take out of the earth and in my opinion, out of all the things that we can take out of the Earths soil gold is one of the least valuable. Gold is an extremely soft metal, it can not be used to make tools. Its soul purpose is based solely on decoration and vanity. Now lets consider our paper currency that we slave away for each and every week, if a suitcase full of hundred dollar bills was found by an indigenous tribe in the middle of the Amazon it may actually have some real value. Because you see they would use it as fuel to keep their fires burning so that they could cook and keep themselves warm at night but beyond that, its value would be insignificant. As a civilization how has our perception of what is truly valuable become so misguided and delusional? We pollute and poison our own water ways, we allow corporations to genetically mutate and manipulate our food supply like some kind of sinister science experiment and we are causing irreversible damage to the very air we breath. We value our own self gratification and advancement over the well being and safety of others. We have become a race of idolaters worshiping in front of a giant golden statue of ourselves. We must stop this gluttonous madness and once again realize the difference between the necessities of our existence and the unimportant luxuries of life. Take a long look around yourself and then ask, do I own these possessions of mine or do they own me? Blessings and love to you all. Namaste _/|\_
