The minute Cindy heard from the vet she gave me a call saying Tom - TopicsExpress

The minute Cindy heard from the vet she gave me a call saying Tom what should I do I will do whatever it takes for Sweetie. I assured Cindy if it were a matter of money or creative ideas to keep Sweetie going we would come up with the answers. I told her that all the people on Sweetie & Sammys page would step up in a heartbeat to help. Jack & Cindy would have done anything necessary to continue to keep Sweetie with them. They were willing to make sacrifices for her beyond what most people would. Both Sweetie & I knew that & its why we were happy to have Sweetpea in such a loving home to call her own. From the moment Lynn Steckel picked her up off the ground in a complete wretched state & brought her to OBAS she felt loved & protected. Then the staff at Country Animal Clinic continued to show her what it felt like to be cared for & they gave her the medical attention needed so that I had something to work with as I helped her recover from the neglect she had endured. Her stay with me & the pack gave her the will to hang on & her time with Cindy & Jack was like heaven on earth to her. She even showed them how compassionate their son John & dog Taz truly are inside by the way they watched over her. Like all of us here her life had a limit & it was her time to say goodbye to us. She did so surrounded by hugs & kisses & we left no doubt as to how much we were going to miss her. Do you know how hard it is for two grown men ( Jack & myself ) to try to hold back our own tears for such a wonderful dog ? In spite of our best efforts Cindy & Sweetie could probably tell it was not our greatest acting effort by the wetness in our eyes. I ask one favor of some of you. Please do not write that you think Sweetie got worse because she left mt home & went to live with Cindy & Jack. It may be a nice boost to my ego to think that but its not true. This outcome was going to be the same. She was old & developed other complications that made it to much to expect her to go on. She was older than we wanted to say & was shutting down. I am thrilled she got to know the good side of humans before she left. I can assure you that she was spoiled & loved every minute of the day no matter where her head was resting. I already told Cindy she did an amzing job seeing this thru & her & Jack are grateful they were able to be a part of seeing Sweetie thru her final days here on earth. I would like to thank Country Animal Clinic. They treated her like a princess & gave us the valuable time we needed to show her love before moving on. To Old Bridge Animal Shelter & Lynn Steckel especially for the things you did emotionally as well financially by fundraising donations. So many shelters would never have given her the care she got & I am personally grateful that you allowed me the opportunity to take her in & trust me with her life. I loved her & learned some things about myself as well as being reminded to stay positive & never give up on a dog. And naturally it was amazing to see how many people could fall so in love with a dog they never actually met. Sweetie cemented the desire within me to keep helping dogs find a home of their dreams. I will miss you my long legged friend. Thanks for so many good memories. I am a wiser & better man having met you.
