The mistake most athletes when trying to build unshakable - TopicsExpress

The mistake most athletes when trying to build unshakable confidence and BELIEF is accepting a bad opinion from another person that is not true. Accepting Another Persons Bad Opinion of You In our desire to please people and get along (which we assume will make us popular), most athletes will immediately accept a bad opinion of themselves from a coach, parent, or teammate - even if its not true. Youre a fourth line player at best. You dont have quick feet. Your serve is too weak to get aces with him. Youll never qualify for this race at your age. Ive noticed that most athletes accept these statements even when they dont agree with them. Then they go out and perform poorly, making this bad opinion a self-fulfilling prophecy. Another TERRIBLE idea that will crush your confidence instantly. Why? Because to be confident, you need to trust your mind - what you KNOW to be true about yourself. If you dismiss what you know to be true because someone else has a different opinion, youll do major damage to yourself emotionally. Case in point: An athlete I worked with recently was despondent because the coach hadnt put her in the line-up (yet). Whats the message you think the coach is sending? I asked her. That Im not good enough to play, she said. And how ARE you playing? I asked her. Im not myself at all. Im not trusting my instincts and Im messing up even the simplest drills in practice, she said. Only - guess what? This athlete didnt lose confidence because her coach didnt put her in the line-up. She lost it because she KNOWS she is good enough to play, but decided to believe something else. Imagine you go outside and the sun is shining. But then the person next to you says, Its raining. You know the sun is shining because you can see it and feel the warmth on your face. If you convince yourself that its raining, you start to feel uncomfortable and bad inside. Do this, and its game over for your confidence. Your mind is your basic tool for survival. Question what you KNOW to be true, and youll do terrible damage to yourself. Now I know what youre thinking. if I have a great coach and he thinks Im not good enough to play, then how dare I second-guess him? Easy. You bring the CHALLENGE RESPONSE, which is, Coach, Im better than you know! Im going to prove it you every day until you see what Im made of! Thats what your coach is hoping for, and anything less is a disservice to both of you. Your coach may be the smartest person alive, but even he doesnt have a crystal ball and cannot predict the future. Heck, even Michael Jordan and Shaquille ONeal got cut from their high school teams. Remember, human beings are not built to persist. Were built to give up at the first sign of struggle, and the biggest struggle of all is believing in yourself even when no one else does. You can be different. You can get the edge. Using strategies and tactics that only 3% of athletes out there know is one reason my new Confident Champion System will help you become a star athlete, deliver astonishing peak performance, and win big events. This is my new training program for athletes and coaches on how to build unshakable confidence and BELIEVE in yourself. By truly understanding the science of self-confidence in sport, you will realize all your goals and dreams as an athlete - and have fun in the process. Hope to enjoy ,,Dr walaa elabd Walaa Elabd
