The money pit closed today. For all the jokes, Henry did a beautiful job on that house and I really liked it. The realtor who bought the house is a horrid man who bent rules, played games and declared that he could play dirty pool because we were going to do just fine on the house. I guess he forgot the cost of materials and the hundreds of hours of sweat equity that we put into it. He is a man who misled us and referred to his client, not saying it was him. A man who said that our decor was horrible and then after we accepted his offer sent me a list of all the decor items he wanted to purchase from us. A man who arranged a second appraisal three days before the movers showed up and essentially held us hostage to lower the price when his pal lowered the appraisal by 62K, after the original one came in 10K higher than our agreed upon price. They used old comps and threatened to back out, knowing the house had already been packed and we had put in an offer on a house here in TX. And at the end of the day we had to purchase a gift (pool heater) for him when we didnt even have one before and he earned a commission on the deal too. So, we did make money on the house, but only because the sweat equity didnt mean anything to him. I am hoping that Karma will follow him. I hope that the house that made us happy doesnt pan out the way he hopes it will.
