The month of April,in spite of being rather broke has been a wonderful one as far as music goes. In spite of some resistance on my part,I got to see/hear Alan Gerber @ a Hidden Valley B&B/house concert, and it was a very fine show. Hopefully see him here again, maybe w/ a band ! Then two days later was Brandon Isaak releasing his new CD,Here On Earth, accompanied by Keith Picot,at The Old Fire Hall. A >FABULOUS< show, sold out,and including a couple of the silent film projects these two artists have been collaborating on. Wonderful. The following night, also at The Old Fire Hall,Sarah MacDougall opened for the >VERY FINE< Rachel Sermanni, performing solo [mostly] on a bit of a return visit to Yukon. Always nice to see Sarah, but Rachel ... shes got an >OH-SO-FINE< voice ,kinda angelic in its purity, though I bet she could tell a hair-raising ghost story ... And last night finished it off for me [sadly,no more dough ...] with another show at The Old Fire Hall ... THE JAZZ REUNION CONCERT w/ Daniel Janke,Ken Searcy and George Koller .... WOWZER - WHAT A SHOW !!! Daniel & George have played together in Toronto,Ken & George have played together in Calgary ... George has graced the Arts Centre stage a couple of times - the last time I saw him was with Cindy Church & Joe Sealy doing the Hoagy Carmichael song book, the show titled The Nearness Of You .... that was a trully GREAT show, too. But last night was very special ... they were in such fine form, and on this visit george got to do some work-shop sort of teaching things, too. George is an old pal, from wwwaaayyy back when he called Edmonton home, always nice to see him and hear him ... last night was >GREAT< !!!!!
