The moral corruption of politics is far more insidious than the financial. It seems that Liberal colleagues of Cyril Smith MP ignored warnings that he was an serial child abuser, covered up information and obstructed police investigations into his activities. Some of them may have done this out of a warped notion of friendship or party loyalty. But others simply wanted to avoid a scandal that would cost them votes. But how low do you have to sink before you put either friendship or votes before the lives of abused children?
