The more I read the more it seems that, in the fight for equality... telling someone to check their privilege is almost guaranteed to bolster in them, a justification for a sense of superiority... or perhaps create one whole-cloth. Not diminish it or make them consider the circumstances of another person. I cant imagine thats the intended goal of the term, I would hope the opposite. But its use is almost always just a venomous accusation slung, rather than any kind of poignant social commentary.
