The most common messages spoken today seem to consist of turning to Yeshua for blessings. We are taught to seek Him for better health, more wealth, to see our enemies become our footstool and a life filled with our hearts desires. We are taught to claim the promises of the bible that Yahweh made to His people and to stand on those words. These messages are very encouraging and bring people to their feet, week after week; but they are lacking. The benefits of life in Yeshua (Christ) are preached but the gospel of the kingdom that Yeshua Himself preached is neglected. His teaching was not about things of gain in THIS world. Yeshua taught what was most important for our eternal gain. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. - Matthew 4:17 The promises of the Most High, as laid out in the bible have an If thou will....., Then I will.... clause attached to them. Those promises are not our claim if we neglect to perform the IF THOU WILL portion of them, if we neglect to uphold His standard of living. When Yahweh sets a standard, we, as His people, cannot lower that standard to the ways of the world and continue to expect His promises to manifest. We have not upheld our end of the contract and we are not being held accountable to this by the messages given and we like it this way. The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof? - Jeremiah 5:31 Sadly, so many come to Yeshua disillusioned, looking for worldly benefits and a life of gravy. However, Yeshua (Jesus) spoke of persecutions and problems still arising because of the gospel. (John 15:19-21) This is a part of what those that believe on Him will face. Those that come seeking His hand will potentially fall away, disappointed thinking they did not receive what was promised. This is because we focus solely on the benefits and not the whole of the gospel calling for a heart change through faith. It is by the grace that is afforded us by faith in Yeshua as our Savior that we are able to endure persecutions and receive, as a byproduct of adherence to His word, prosperity by promise. Let me be clear here: the greatest gift, the highest benefit, the more excellent promise is that of salvation, being sons and daughters of the Most High. That is our true prosperity and not material wealth. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned to fables. - 2 Timothy 4:3-4 We tend to seek after Yeshua as a source of worldly gain instead of Savior of our souls from a life of sin and eternal torment. The question then arises, if our profession of belief on Him was just empty words to get the loaves and fishes? Have our hearts truly been changed? Are we willing to commit to a life of discipleship? Are we willing to hear the true gospel of the kingdom and repent? Are we choosing to follow ONLY the messages on the hand of Yahweh and not those on submitting our hearts and lives to His ways? Lets examine ourselves and be honest about where we stand.
