The most dishonest, the guy who accepts 2÷2=5 and works it out; the most honest (and therefore one with hope), the girl before him who speaks of being brought up that way and of her social setting of believers. This, the social fabric and fear of having to tear apart not only oneself away but tripping up relationships and causing pain to everyone, not to mention the confusion and pain they cause one in relentless pressure to confirm, is what keeps people in line - whatever the diktat (church, totalitarian isms, ...) - it takes a great deal of intelligence matched with courage and fearless quest of truth to go forth in science unless it has no such conflicts (some religions, much older than west Asian origin religions, have no conflict with evolution or tectonic shifts, and in fact support it).
