The most famous openly atheist Egyptian @AhmedHarqan and his pregnant wife, Saly Harqan, faced an assassination attempt this morning. When they went to the police station to report it, they were arrested, and their phones were shut down. Neither of them can be reached at the moment. The Egyptian Attorney General has ordered an investigation of Ahmed Harqan on charges of blasphemy/contempt of religion. Harqan, a former ultra-conservative Salafist, appeared on several Egyptian talk shows to speak about non-religious rights. Watch BBC interview him in the video below.
