The multidisciplinary team of Hindustan University, Chennai participated in the prestigious NIYANTRA 2014 - The annual Graphical System Design contest organized by National Instruments India, Bangalore on Sept 18, 2014 and won First Prize – NIYANTRA WINNER ” Title in the competition. A cash prize of Rs 75,000/- and merit certificate was awarded to the team by Alex Davern ,Chief Operating Officer , National Instruments ,USA. There were about 2000 teams from India out of which 12 teams were selected for the finals. The team has designed a complete system INDUS- Industrial Defense & Unmanned Ground System that uses LabVIEW platform. INDUS is integrated with Wi-Fi controlled all terrain drive system , Multi-functional Robotic Arm and GPS Navigation system capable of maneuvering in to disaster areas for assisting the disaster management effectively. The team consists of Final Year Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering students Sandeep Kumar, Mohit Gouda, Puranjan Das, Nitish Kumar,N.Naveen Kumar Reddy (Third year Mechanical Engineering) ,G.Muthukumaran (Faculty Advisor/EIE), Prof . Dr.U.Ramachandraiah (Mentor).
