The nerve of who ever wrote this: Blue ridge facebook page Status Update By Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers Please read this statement by Cindy Irwin Parker Cindy Parker I have held my tongue and let everyone vent, but it is time for everyone to know what really happened. I have taught at BRHS for 28 years. Many of you who are posting are my former and present students. You have been expressing your opinion about a situation where you have only heard one side. I was there. I know the entire story. She was not a few minutes late; she came in as we were leaving. The other 230 graduates were there. The seniors have received numerous emails and there have been numerous announcements about the rehearsals and times. It is a policy that a student must be at BOTH practices or they will not be allowed to walk at graduation. Both practices are important. The graduates need to know what to do; the speakers need to know what to do; the marshals need to know what to do…and when. We make it look easy, but it takes a lot of work that the public does not see. Haley has acknowledged on FB that she was wrong; she just didn’t like the consequences. There were 230 graduates and yet ONE made the day about her. Mrs. Watson was in touch with the family and told them it was fine that they come to graduation. Those who are bashing her and others of us need to get your information straight before jumping to conclusions. What if 50 of the graduates had not shown up to practice? There have to be rules and consequences. I am proud of our school, our administration, teachers, and staff. Our secretaries, media specialists, and guidance counselors answered hundreds of calls today and were called some very disgusting names. The verbal abuse that they endured is inexcusable. This all needs to end. Some of you are saying that you are ashamed that you went to Blue Ridge. I am ashamed at the language many of you are using, and I am ashamed that you would think anyone at BRHS would deliberately do anything to hurt a child. It is time for all of this to stop. Graduation is over. I am proud of my 28th graduating class. Congratulations to them. It is about the CLASS of 2013. Let them ALL have their special day. I am and always will be proud to be a BRHS Tiger.
