The new ABLP Government will incentivize commercial and residential housing as part of an economic stimulus program. The ABLP is committed to increased home ownership, renewal and expansion of our country’s housing stock. We will partner with various public sector organisations including the Teachers, Nurses, and Police Welfare Associations in satisfying the housing needs of their members. The UPP regime has reduced even our most qualified citizens and residents to menial wage earners, while they unconscionably gave away in the region of EC$100m in land, including 70 acres located at Cedar Valley Golf Course, 17 acres of water front land at Crabbs Peninsula and a further 115 acres at various locations, to enrich the expatriate principals of BAU Panel. Your new ABLP administration will empower local developers and contractors, by incentivizing them with cheap land, duty free and tax free concessions to develop housing projects and town centres. This stimulus plan includes the construction of 500 affordable homes in 500 days. This program will be ongoing and is designed to satisfy the housing needs of our people and to provide employment for our contractors, masons, carpenters, architects, engineers, plumbers, labourers and artisans. These homes, which will have a solar option to reduce energy costs, will be built exclusively by locals and will provide employment for 50 contractors and 2500 construction workers. These two and three bedroom concrete properties of approximately 800 square feet, including land, will retail for less than EC$140,000, with mortgage payments starting at EC$700 monthly. The program also applies to individuals who would like to have the property constructed on their own land. The ABLP administration will also provide low interest loans for a home repair program for the poor and vulnerable to assist them to renew or expand their homes and to provide employment.
