The new beginning - its not the end of a day updating you filled with uncertainty - its the start of day 11 and I missed day 10 because the relief of seeing Brock stand up, talk and smile was so overwhelming and we just needed to stop and be quiet for a moment. Day 11 is a great day Brock will be moved to rehabilitation in Caulfield soon to begin the journey of finding his balance on his feet, shaking off the chest infection and hopefully finding out wether his vocal chords are ok after 9 days of respiratory assistance from a ventilator and the various attempts to wake him failing causing him to have to be re ventilated. I am confident he will find his voice! Brock has lost a lot of weight and muscle so there will be a focus on his health in that area. His short term memory is limited however all signs are pointing towards a good recovery and a great result. We feel relieved, encouraged and appreciative that the outcome for Brock is so positive when it could have been a lot worse. I cannot speak highly enough of the care Brock and those around him have received. Everyone caring for him has gone above and beyond to ensure Brock received the best medical care available. The compassion and dedication of the Medical Team at the Alfred Hospital never faulted and the outcome is due to their professionalism and knowledge. They do their work without question or stress and ensure there is a wholistic approach to treatment. Australia is the lucky country you just have to look at the access to the worlds best medical treatment and those working in the hospitals to see how amazing what we have available here is. There have been a lot questions around if the perpetrator of this coward punch attack has been charged. He has and is awaiting a decision from the police prosecutor on which charge it will be, which of course is dependant on the out come for Brock. That is the way the justice system works and we have faith in the police and the way the case is being handled. I have been in constant contact and have been informed as things progress. We may have to accept that there could be a lesser charge because Brock is alive and mostly so far doing ok, and thats ok for me because Brock is alive - justice will be served and it will never be enough to justify the 9 days spend in ICU wondering what the outcome would be and seeing a human suffer so terribly, it has been the most traumatic and far reaching experience in my life and those around me, there is so much collateral damage in senseless acts of violence. Our focus remains on Brock and seeking positive outcomes for him, as well as supporting him through this journey to work towards a bright future. Anyone who knows Brock knows he is an intelligent compassionate young man and we have him back ! I will keep posting updates and spreading the word because I think its important to bring awareness and to talk about what the repercussions of violence are on our youth. Thank you all immensely for your support at some point Brock will be able to read through things on this page and I know although he is wondering what all the fuss is over he will appreciate the far reaching support he has received Thank you Di & Co
