The new wave of religion, or spirituality, is to suggest whatever - TopicsExpress

The new wave of religion, or spirituality, is to suggest whatever one visualizes will be created, so each of us creates his/her reality. While I feel there is some truth to that, and I have both practiced it, and been enriched by the product of visualization, we still must contend with other primal psychological and spiritual forces in the journey of one’s life drama. The idea is that whatever one desires will come to be, if one truly believes in it happening. This mirrors the belief that one receives what one gives. However, what does one truly desire? Is that a question that one’s unconscious has at least as much say as one’s consciousness? Does not karma play a role in one’s path? Are there not lessons one must learn to become wise which are more important to one’s sacred being than one’s desire of simple, materialistic pleasures? One may want, and feel one deserves, wealth, health, pleasure, and power; however, since we are beings on spiritual journeys, does not one’s karma and unconsciousness play factors in deciding what one’s deep, sacred being truly desires to confront one’s need to grow into wisdom? These unconscious desires may often include pain, disappointment, even despair to push one to the limits of dissecting life, clarifying reality, and developing compassion for others. If wisdom is finding inner peace, and this is done by learning how to love all beings without judgment, then creating a reality in which one simply enjoys the benefits of the wealthy and powerful is not concordant with one’s inner need to learn how to love, which often comes from pain, and the understanding which often follows if patience and perspective are practiced. One’s inner being introduces one to the paths one needs to travel, not just to those paths one wants to enjoy. The truly spiritual being often does visualize as part of his/her meditation practice, and the sage also understands that one’s journey longs for full enlightenment, for the complete understanding of a compassionate being, and this is often learned by experiencing the pain others feel. While it is true that the sage often learns by observing others rather than direct experience, it is also reality that each sage has also endured a great deal of pain along the journey, pain which resulted in a perspicacious understanding that produced love rather than judgment of others as the sojourner grew into a sage. The sage feels that learning how to stay balanced, rather than simply visualizing what one desires, is often more important during times of turbulence. Learning to follow one’s inner guidance, rather than trying to dictate its course, can often result in better learning the path one should travel. Many sages have stated that surrendering the life one desires for the life one needs to live is vital to one’s journey. If one does not listen to the soft whisper of one’s own intuition offering guidance then one is missing out on the innate profundity of one’s own being. Your karma, your innate wisdom, knows the paths you must take to achieve the wisdom you instinctively quest. Still oneself in meditation; listen; be patient. The answers will follow. Let others thrive for possessions; the sage seeks to live within the peace of indiscriminate love.
