The news of Christians and non-terrorist Muslims being slaughtered in Iraq has been all over the news for the past couple of months. But as with many important things that fade from the daily news when we dont feel empowered to be able to directly do anything about it or when the media feels bored, the daily reality hasnt changed, but we have largely moved on. Storling Dance Theater will be re-staging HER LAST PRAYER to keep the memories of those who have died alive and to remind us to diligently keep all the oppressed in our daily prayers. HER LAST PRAYER is a dance story based on a true story of a teenage martyr in China from the 1970s. Many in our country dont know that it is still a crime to be a Christian or any other religious person in China. In American and much of the West, we live in the comfort of being protected regardless of our views. This is not the reality for millions upon millions of people in the world. The comfort that we live in because of our freedom should not put us asleep to the need to not rest until all people can live in the freedom from fear and persecution for beliefs that do not threaten peoples lives.
