The next city in the list of cities of Portugal recommended to be visited, is Sintra. Sintra is the mix of tropical greenery, stunning landscapes and amazing architectural treasures in the Moorish, Gothic and Manueline styles. The mark of the city are two gigantic conical chimneys of National Palace, dating from the 14th century. Breathtaking experience offers the Regaleira Estate (Quinta da Regaleira). Built at the 19th century in Gothic, Manueline and Renaissance styles, it is surrounded by a garden filled with mythological and esoteric symbols – statues of gods, mysterious wells and ponds, grottoes and even tunnel staircase. The Capuchos Convent (Convento dos Capuchos) with labyrinth of narrow corridors, chapels, and child-sized cells cut out of rock, is famous because of the walls all lined with cork. The cork used to create the acoustic isolation required for the meditation of the friars. All these factors led to classification of Sintra as World Heritage by UNESCO.
