The official launch of the Swedish ‘Impact Prowear” League Sweden Rugby League is entering into a new era of the sport, with the launch of a new four team domestic competition, the Swedish Rugby League announces the launch of the Swedish Impact Prowear League marking the dawn of some big plans for Scandinavia’s most ambitions governing body. With the introduction of two newly formed clubs around the nations capital, Stockholm, and a new Board elected this week, the Sweden Rugby League is finally ready to unveil its ambitious plans for the future. New SRL president Paul Briggs says that he is honoured to take over from the founder of league in Sweden and the first SRL president Scott Edwards. “We have a lot to be thankful to Scott and we will be honouring him with a new trophy; the ‘Scott Edwards Shield’, which has to be won in a unique way for European rugby league”. The trophy is played for throughout the season, where the holders must aim to defend it as many times at home games as possible. Creating a true challenge atmosphere to teams travelling to meet the holders and claim the Shield as their own. The ambitious league have formed a major partnership with ‘ImpactProwear’ who have come on board as naming rights partner for the league, and will be providing a complete range of on-field and casual apparel for the Swedish National team and each club for the next three years. Braceiller Productions have also partnered with the League to become the official photography and media provider. Not content with a consolidated online store, and two major partnership agreements for their debut season, Chairman Paul Briggs has also been quick to acknowledge the effort so far, and the ambition of the League. “As the new chairman I am committed to lead Sweden Rugby League with my main priority to serve the game in its best interest. After seeking guidance and advice from the Rugby League European Federations general manager Danny Kazandjian this mirrors the philosophy that underpins the RLEF. Since the end of last years season we have, through the hard work of Swedish captain Fabian Wikander and Adam Kirk, formed two new teams, the Sodertalje Storm and the Stockholms Kungar, joining the already established Kungsbacka Broncos and Skane Crusaders, and have plans to form more teams heading into 2016. I also understand that I need good people supporting us and have enlisted advisors to help us grow in a structured, professional manner. It is an exciting time for us and emerging nations around the world with Rugby League starting in more and more places.” The Sweden Rugby League has big plans to revamp the annual Scandinavian 9s tournament in the coming years to make it a real showpiece for the sport. “We have developed a 10 year strategic plan, each year, we set goals to improve steadily and be able to judge our performance each season so that we are all unified and heading in the right direction. We recognize that to succeed, we must govern Rugby League with integrity and professionalism, to give everyone who participates in our sport a fun and safe game to play, no matter what level of ability. The ‘Swedish Impact Prowear League’ marks the dawn of a sport which we feel the people of Sweden will take to heart for years to come.” National Coach Ashley Brown is extremely happy with the new sponsorship deals and with the amount of clubs doubled to four, we have put ourselves in a great position to becoming an affiliate member of the RLEF and developing a strong domestic competition, therefore a strong National side, it sets in motion the potential for Sweden to become a force in Europe. impactyourkit Sweden Rugby League 18th January 2015 Jönköping
