The old saying that history repeats itself seems relevant as a relevant lesson today, as the Tea Republican Tea Party in the House could have learned to avoid their defeat in their mindless extorted attempt to hold the country hostage (a minority against the majority) in order to meet their demands by shutting the government down. This overreaching has been repeated in the irony that is history time and again. A good example of this overreaching goes back over 2000 years ago to what was then the Roman Republic, and specifically to the Roman Senate (sound familiar?), where some senators had the misguided notion that Julius Caesar wanted to be king, or dictator and had to go. Thus in their idealistic attempt to save the Republic from this, they decided to assassinate Caesar. In this they ironically accomplished just the opposite of their plan: not only killing, but likewise killing the Republic. thus ushering in the Roman Empire instead, with Augustus Caesar (Caesars nephew) serving as the first Emperor.
