The oneness doctrine or believing in one God is not a guarantee of our salvation. The devil also believes that there is one God and trembles at this truth (James 2:19). Its not all there is. God requires Holiness. Why? Because it is the very nature and attribute of God...God is holy. But just as He who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior; because it is written, You shall be holy; for I am holy. -1 Pet.1:15-16 Holiness means separation. And God requires separation for His children. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you; And I will be a Father to you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. -2 Cor.6:17-18 But then again, holiness is not only the outward appearance. Since holiness is Gods nature and attribute, we ought to be holy also in all manner of lifestyle and conversation. We ought not just to dress modestly but also to act, think, and talk holy. It starts with our character, our attitude and behavior. Our thougts, our words and our actions should be holy (not worldly). Eventually, the outward appearance, by our obedience and submission to the Word and the Spirit of God will manifest holiness and modesty. It is the work of God when we yield to His Spirit. He purifies His own temple, which is our body. Those who have left the doctrine of holiness did not have the full understanding of the true essence of holiness and the grace of God. Because of pride and rebellion, they were blinded and deceived trying to justify themselves by mere good works, leaving holiness behind. (inspired by Bishop D. Ompad)
