The online Calvin presentations are top shelf. I am thankful for them. Somewhere in recent years, I attended a Sunday school class that featured a 35 minute review of the Reformation. It was a theatre of the absurd presentation that “covered more than 450 years of history with snatches of printouts from Wikipedia and endless clichés, truisms, and distortions of history. I think the lowest point was a bigoted attack on Thomas Cranmer, who seems usually to get “bad press” while the Roman Catholic Thomas More gets good press”. I found the experience troubling, amusing, and irritating all in the same moment. There were, of course, many Reformations, not a single one. Almost everyone acted badly at one time or other; yet, many players got a bad reputation in recent times with too many readers not taking care to read, weigh, and review. I am a descendant spiritually of Zwingli but there is much about Calvin I admire. I like Thomas Cranmer. I like the Roman Catholic Spanish mystics—at lot. I most like Luther but he is a hard case in many, many ways. Luther started with experience and that is key for me. But there is more about experience in Calvin that one ordinarily assumes. You do not have to embrace any of the player entirely, but you do not grasp the modern world if you do not explore them. Anyway, the lectures are excellent. Take a look.
