The only problem with getting the chaos out of the house - it is - TopicsExpress

The only problem with getting the chaos out of the house - it is just keeps on highlighting repairs/renovations that REALLY need to be make. What I need is to find someone who go with me through the house and figure out what needs to be done, and an idea of what it would cost me if i got it all done. And have it not cost me anything ;) Mainly because any money spent getting an estimate could cut into the non-available funds we have to actually do the work. Sigh. I think we shall attack the wee 1/2 bath first. Since it is little and we could actually get something done without going broke. First - wall paper off - then paint from Home Depot and paint the walls (and get new curtains.) Repeat this process throughout the house - only having to add in carpetting/flooring in each room - because all the floor treatments are almost 25 years old - and all the curtains are almost as old (expect in my bedroom - where at least two windows have new curtain - 2 windows need curtain - and all windows need new sheers.) Sigh. I need to work out a budget - and figure out how to make it all happen on a shoestring budget. And THIS is why one shouldnt put off stuff like this too long ;) On the positive side - the energy in the house is definitely changing - but I am sorta feeling weird about that too. Oh - and now I DESPERATE to get a new sofa and love seat - because the boys have completely trashed what we had - and I need to have places where people can sit when they come over. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can get affordable AND sturdy couches? Anyone have any experiencing with furniture from Big Lots? I wish we were more DIY folks - because that would certainly make the money go further - but due to health issues it just isnt doable. Dont mind me - I am not really whining - I and just thinking aloud and trying to figure out some plans for action. If any of you all have any recent experience with such issues let me know (keeping in mind that DIY is sadly not really doable at this point.)
