The opening ceremonies signifying the official restoration of N&W J-Class 4-8-4 No. 611 took place this morning during the Streamliners at Spencer festivities in North Carolina. As Streamliner fans gather around the Bob Julian Roundhouse, Norfolk Southern CEO Wick Moorman speaks on behalf of the pending restoration of historic J-Class 4-8-4 N&W No. 611. Surrounded by over two dozen streamliners, No. 611 was an appropriate centerpiece for the opening ceremonies. Restoration is expected to begin at the North Carolina Transportation Museum shortly after the event concludes this weekend.
