The other day I was on skype improving my English talking with woman native English speaker from USA, actually I was exchanging my Spanish for her English. She asked me which accent I was learning and I told her Amarican English, then I asked her what about you? which accent in Spanish are you learning? she told me well I dont learn any accent in Spanish. I have a Neutral Spanish she told me. Then she said that if people want to learn English they should learn very well either American accent or British accent and it pushed my buttons a little bit. I totally agree that when we learn a language we should learn an accent too, to a better understanding of the language and to understand people better. But even if we dont learn any specific accent in English, we make one on our own, because of our first language, sometimes our first language interfers with the second language, due to this is difficult to make an American or a British accent.Not frequently I speak with Native English speakers, actually I mostly speake with English learners and through these conversations with foreigners around the world, I realized that not everyone can make a British or American accent however their English in understandable, they have a job where English is a requirement or they are studying in an English country at the University where the TOEFL is needed.Well my point is that this person did not know that there is no a standard Spanish accent and for those people either native Spanish or non-native Spanish speaker who believe that have a neutral Spanish, let me tell you that you are absolutely wrong. Why? because if you have got a neutral Spanish you are ignoring a culture and thousands of years, you are ignoring places like Peru where the Spanish is the best, there are less bad words and invented words. This doest make it neutral, but it does When you are speaking Spanish without an accent, without variations and without own words like a robot. Just one more thing please.Correct my English I am open to any criticism.
