The other day I was watching Mason at my parents house and he was holding a little rock that sits by the front door. It has little inset flowers and the word caring. Im not sure who gave it to my mother...but I am sure it was intended for her flower garden. She perhaps thought it was too pretty to put in the dirt. It is very light in weight...much too light to hold our heavy door back. But Mason loves to play with it. Suddenly I heard the lower cabinet door slam closed and I turned to look at him grinning sheepishly with his back to the door. I put my hands on my hips and half laughing I said, What did you do? He proudly opened the cabinet door and showed me the rock which was sitting on Mothers sugar canister. I laughed. He had found a place where he thought it belonged. My mother thinks it belongs at the door. I think it would be a nice accent to her garden. We can do that with things...decide where they belong. But we cant do that with people once they are grown. Each person knows where they either belong...or want to belong. People can try to tell them where they need to be...but it is their choice. If other people dont agree...that is their business...just like it is each persons business to decide where they themselves belong. And the moral of this story...if you dont want someone minding your business...then maybe you should just worry about your own:0)
