The other evening in Germany they showed Last Tango in Paris unexpurgated on TV. I hadnt seen it since its release 40 years ago, when it was considered immensely shocking, so I decided to watch. Today it seems immensely boring. I couldnt watch very long. On the other hand, I saw a recent British film before leaving Philadelphia--I Sleep When Im Dead. It stars Clive Owen as an English gangster whose been living as a wandering homeless person for three years who seems only concerned about staying out of sight. When he learns that his younger brother committed suicide, he sets out to find out why and then for revenge. A brutal movie, but well made if thats your preference in film. (I liked it.)
