The parades commission decision once again highlights the one - TopicsExpress

The parades commission decision once again highlights the one sided nature of the peace process. The Parades commission have continually rewarded republican violence and the threat of violence. It is important to also note that the PSNI have permitted these very public threats to be made without bringing any criminal charges. This stands in stark contrast with the way they dealt with spokespersons of the UPF for encouraging entirely peaceful protests. The joint Unionist statement gets to the core of the issue and strongly conveys the anger of the entire PUL community. It is also pleasing that the DUP & UUP will now walk out of the pointless talks. They should never have been in them in the first place but for the sake of unity perhaps we should focus on our current position and move forward together. The very future of our culture & identity is now under threat and todays decision has once again shown that the threat of violence pays and the potential for creating violence can be used as leverage to gain political advantage. The Protestant people of Ulster cannot be expected to continue within the framework of a peace process whilst at the same time Republicans use the threat of violence to gain political advantage. The decision today has set a dangerous precedent. The anger within the Protestant community is palpable. The anger has been growing since the 3rd December 2012. The decision raises new questions about the strategies the PUL community should use to combat the threat of violence that is being used to justify the unjustifiable decisions of an unaccountable & unelected quango. All Protestants Unionists & Loyalists must unite together to combat this grave threat to our community and to do so lawfully & peacefully. The decision on methods of protest must be taken by those on the frontline of this dispute in North Belfast and the wishes of those members of our community should be supported and re-enforced by a united Protestant Unionist Loyalist front of political unionism, the Orange Order, the Churches and the wider loyalist community.
