The paradigms of history foretell the future. Could this be the pattern for America? Josiah was one of the greatest kings of Judah. He began to seek the Lord when he was 16. His great grandfather was righteous Hezekiah, his grandfather was the very wicked Manasseh, and his father was wicked Amon. He began to reign after 57 years of evil kings and idolatry. Even the Book of Deuteronomy had been lost. Josiah led a great revival in his days after the Book of the Law was found while cleansing the Temple. He put all the Sodomites out of the land, he destroyed the idols of the high places, and made the people make a covenant with Jehovah. They celebrated the Passover like it had not been kept since the days of Samuel some 320 years previously. But only 22 years after his death, God sent Babylon to destroy the Temple and destroy Jerusalem. “… they kept mocking the messengers of God, despising his words and scoffing at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD rose against his people, until there was no remedy” (2 Chronicles 36:16 ESV).
