The passing of honorable men who selflessly performed acts of valor at great personal cost demands notice and reverence. I am unable to properly give due to such men, having never been at the hands of fate when called upon, but the life of George Everette "Bud" Day can provide valuable guidance to those left behind. Colonel Day was a veteran of the USMC (1942-1945), the US Army (1945-1950), and the US Air Force (1950-1977). Lost on a Fast Forward Air Control mission against a Russian/NVA SAM site in August 1967 and badly wounded, he was captured and POW until March of 1973. His Medal of Honor Citation for resistance and evasion is quoted in my comments below. The video is of a North American F-100 "Super Sabre" restored and in the livery of the aircraft Day flew as commander of his squadron during his last combat action. RIP Colonel Day.
