The past 62 days have been a roller coaster of emotions, ups and downs, changes, trials & tribulations.......some terrifying & challenging while others are uplifting. We have experienced one of the most terrifying experiences one can - a brush with death at the hands of mother nature, but rose from the rubble to overcome and re-assess our lives. This has not been easy on any of us (our family, friends, neighbors, community), but the way I see it is that we have been given a second chance at life, an opportunity to live - without regret & make it count. Some days are harder than others (especially when those winds kick in around here), but everyday something beautiful happens and those are the moments, my friends, that we must focus on. Our community was strong before this storm and we will be even stronger after. The signs of progress are happening all around us - take time to revel in the remarkableness of the human spirit, love for our fellow man, and strength in family. The kindness and willingness of complete strangers who have come from far and wide to aide us in our time of need THEN remember these events and pay it forward whenever the opportunity presents itself. It all comes full circle - before long we will be in our new homes with our new surroundings in the community we all love. It is, after all why we lived where we did. No-one can change the events that happened that day, we can only deal with them the best way we know how. For me, it was the worst and best day of my life - The worst for obvious reasons, but the best because we survived and were able to climb out of the rubble un-injured and alive! I know for myself, I will never take life for granted again, I will never complain about the little things that upset me before, I will let bygones be bygones and have no enemies, I will do better every day to be the best person I can possibly be, and give back to the community I love as well as the people who have helped us through all of this!
