The past few weeks I’ve seen many of my FB friends get into long pointless debates about what is going on in our home country Iraq. Debating as to who should be held accountable, why they are doing it, who we should support and so on. It makes me so upset to see all these discussions and even be personally questioned and critiqued about my intentions being involved in something that is solely to help others. Here in NZ, we are blessed with freedom of speech- we are allowed and obliged as global citizens to take action when we can, and spread awareness where we can. Whether you are #ProPalestine #FreeOurGirls #StopISIS #SaveOurChristians or whatever it is that is close to your heart and that you have the connections and the ability to help, than good on you. We need to move past all this unneeded politics and be supportive of any cause where people are being oppressed, killed and robbed of their human rights. Stop questioning, stop debating, stop disagreeing, stop critiquing- all these movements are POSITIVE, all these movements are aimed to raise awareness and help people that truly need help and a voice. The world has many problems right now, so please stop demeaning your friends when they make a stand about a cause. Your opinions are irrelevant- it is your ACTIONS that make change. I invite all my friends to attend this conference and peaceful protest on 30 August 2pm. This is a cause that is close to my heart and I would greatly appreciate others to stand in solidarity with the unique struggle (religious persecution and cleansing) that Christians and other religious minorities are facing in Iraq. #WeAreN #SaveMinorities #ReligiousFreedom #HopeForIraq #Peace
