The past few years have shown that America does not give in to - TopicsExpress

The past few years have shown that America does not give in to fear: many things have changed, but not our character as a nation, our faith in God and in ourselves. The Bible tells us that crying can last all night, but the morning is a comet with joy. In these ten years we have known wars, recession, and political divisions. No one will restore back the lives lost that day and of those who fought the wars that came after. But today it is worth remembering what has not changed: our belief in America, the ideal that men and women can govern themselves, that men are created equal and all deserve the same freedom. That faith, in spite of difficult trials, today is stronger. We were able to successfully defend our way of life: the debate between peace and war, between civil liberties and security was at times fierce. But just in the way we were able to solve it in a way that honors our values, it is all our strength. Our citizens still have full freedom to express their opinions, our souls continue to find solace in churches and in synagogues, such as in the mosques. In recent years we have strengthened the bonds between all Americans, we were not victims of suspicion and mistrust. The Americans of tomorrow, in a few decades seeing the Memorial opened, they will know that nothing can break the will of the United States of America profound: remember that we beat slavery, civil war, fascism, recession and riots, communism and even terrorism. Even to them will say that they are not perfect, but also that our democracy, albeit imperfect, is immortal and stable. HONOR
