The past several weeks leading up to the Love Run have been littered with obstacles - a deep freeze that left us not as trained as we would have liked, a leg surgery, a knee injury, issues with babysitting, nearly missing packet pick up, the idea of running in a downpour - any one of these alone could have easily derailed our efforts. The breaking point occurred last night, when at 11 pm I realized my running shoes were sitting at home in my bathroom, and the only shoes I had with me were Toms and a pair of riding boots. I’ve done some really dumb things in my life, but this has got to be one of my ultimate dumb moves. I cried, my girlfriend cracked up, and we tried to brainstorm where we were going to find a pair of running shoes in the next couple of hours…when it occurred to us, why tempt fate again? Clearly, the cards did not intend for us to run this race, for whatever reason it may have been. We instead went back to the bar and had a super fun night in the city, but I still cannot help being incredibly disappointed. I can say this…the Love Run, without doubt, WILL be my race next year.
