The past two days have been very inspiring, meeting new people, exchanging knowledge and wisdom, but more importantly being able to vocalise our struggle intellectually at the upper echelon of power in Europe. The struggle for justice and fight against afrophobia is present in all countries, albiet taking form in various ways. Blackfacing is one of the ways structural racism can take form, and the reluctancy to change this so called tradition clearly shows a lack of will to deal with the colonial heritage. It´s true that you did not enslave, kill, rape, torture, desecrate and destroy african institutions, but your ancestors did, and they left you a legacy of wealth and power that you still posses, a legacy of power that you still exert, irrespective of its effects on us. I hope this is the first of many meetings where we can exchange knowledge and work towards policies that actually make a difference in our daily lives, that enable us to reach our full potential and be included in the societies we live in. Many thanks to Malin Björk för her steadfastness in the face of abuse, Enar for facilitating our coming together, thanks to Pan African Movement for Justice for appointing me a delegate and to all of the participants for enabling such a great dialogue, I left Strasbourg abit wiser.
