The percentage of children who say they dont know the language of their parents even when they live with their parents, in my observations is many many times more among the Malayalies. I dont know the reason...i found so many of my friends from other language backgrounds in America, their children speak so well their parents language...but more 90% of the keralite children said they dont know! Even they are unwilling to sing a malayalam song...We must learn English but not by sacrificing another langauge... I can in no way support those who makes their children forget their language for another... You can have your children speak many languages not one at the cost of another...if all others can, why not your children? Think and observe the children of North Indian, etc. immigrants.
