The physical death of a believer may be shocking in that those left behind did not expect it at that moment. The physical death of a believer may seem shocking in the manner in which it happened. The physical death of a believer causes a profound sense of loss for loved ones as they learn to live in the here and now without their precious loved one, even as they know that the loved one is with the Lord. But death in and of itself, for a believer, is not tragic (even if the suddenness and manner may make it seem that way.) For one who has run well, finished the course and kept the faith, there is a crown from God Himself. This is the truth that Paul encouraged Timothy with as he prepared Timothy for his (Pauls) departure: For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. (2 Tim. 4:6-8) May we have both Gods comfort and perspective.
