The planning application for Elgin’s proposed western link road is now available for viewing on the Moray Council website. The proposed road is the final section of the roads infrastructure improvements to ease the increasing traffic flow around the city. The application can be accessed via the e-planning section of the website at moray.gov.uk It can be viewed in its entirety by entering the reference code 14/00551/APP in the search box on the front page of the e-planning section. The application comprises nearly 80 separate documents, including a main report running to 378 pages. The documents also include a pre-application consultation report, a non-technical summary, engineering and traffic statements, an environmental assessment, an economic assessment report as well as diagrams, tables, images and graphics. Representations can be made online, by e-mail or by letter. The £8.5million link road will involve the construction of a new road bridge over the Inverness-Aberdeen railway line. It will link Edgar Road with the A96 where a new junction will be created at Sheriffmill and create the necessary infrastructure for existing, new and future housing development in the south of Elgin. A Moray Council spokesman said: “As befits a project of this magnitude and importance, the suite of documents which make up the application contain a huge amount of detail. “The link road plans have been modified following extensive public consultation.” It is anticipated that the application will go before elected members for consideration later this year.
