The police lied several times during this video, yet the suspect never lied once. If a citizen lies to the police it is a crime. Shouldnt police be held to the same standard? The motto of most American police departments is To Protect and to Serve, or something similar. It is not the polices job to determine guilt or innocence. That means that every person who is approached by a policeman is innocent until proven guilty. And if that means a cop has to die to preserve that integrity, that is what their duty is, that is true professionalism. If they are not willing to make that commitment, they shouldnt be a cop. And if our police are not being trained to that standard, and being held to that standard, then our liberty is truly in a state of extreme distress. The perception is that being a police officer is a dangerous job. The statistics simply dont bear that out. Its far more dangerous to be a farmer, a roofer or a garbage man than it is a cop. Im not saying that the police dont need to be cautious but, somehow weve gotten to where protecting the life of cops supersedes protecting the life of the citizenry. I have come to the conclusion that the biggest threat to my safety and well being in every day life is the police. I feel unsafe and threatened in their presence. They are armed and dangerous strangers far more concerned about their own safety than mine. All you need to know about how corrupt, menacing, and out of control, law enforcement has become in this country is to listen to the police spokespersons response to any investigation of police misconduct. I made the commitment to sacrifice all for liberty for 23 years in the US Military. I expect no less from the police.
